I Can Stop the Wind
I'm so lonely and alone
contemplating such misdeeds
hating now
craving then
lamenting when and what has gone
guilty of nothing but being extraordinarily demanding of life
wanting everything
cognizant of the rapid passage of time
my limited number of moments, passing quickly
dwindling
fleeting
racing away like dust in the wind
I must stop the wind
to keep my dust
or be eroded into nonexistence
and no one will remember I lived.
Can I stop the wind
or change its course to favor me
am I in control of anything?
I know my options and alternatives
I choose from them
so I can forge my own path through the maze
building walls against the wind
with bricks from someone else's wall
unwillingly donated
angrily relented, jealously
painfully.
In their death,
I find new life
and am reborn.
If I have but courage, I can stop the wind.
Please, old friend, have the courage.
