| I Am A Train |
The engine chugged on
Through day and night
Month by year
Watching the ceaseless approach
Of a predictable track
He could see his future track
For years forward
His path was all too clear
He had responsibilities
Duties to perform
Others counting on him
His mate and offspring
Those who made him
Those who manage and profit from him
He slid down the predictable track
Viewing a mountainside of alternative tracks below
Knowing he was trapped on his track
There was no off-ramp
The only option to fate
Was catastrophic change
Destroying much for uncertain gain
The engine weighed the status quo
Against the thrill of a different reality
And jumped his tracks
Rolling and crashing down the mountain
After extensive repairs
He was on a completely different track
A new train altogether
And much happier overall
